The SEA-Teacher Program, initiated by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Secretariat (SEAMEO Secretariat), offers pre-service student teachers from universities across Southeast Asia the opportunity to gain valuable teaching experience through an international exchange program. This initiative aims to enhance teaching skills by providing hands-on classroom experience, improve English proficiency through its use in diverse educational settings, broaden participants’ perspectives by exposing them to different cultures and education systems, and foster adaptability in various teaching and learning environments.

 The program is designed as a one-month international teaching placement for third- and fourth-year education students majoring in subjects such as Mathematics, Science, English, Pre-school and Primary Education, Physical Education, and Social Studies. During the program, student teachers engage in classroom observation and assistance to gain first-hand experience, conduct independent teaching practice by planning and delivering lessons, and participate in cross-cultural learning to improve communication skills. In addition, they receive mentorship and support from host university lecturers as well as peer assistance from student buddies, making the experience both academically enriching and personally meaningful.
