The Texas Board of Nursing protects the public from unsafe nursing practices, approving ocer 200 nursing education programs, and also issues liceses to more than 27,000 nurses annualy through examinations for new gradutes and endorsements for nurses from other states seeking a Texas license. 

The TBON responsibilites include licensing, school approval and enforcement. The Texas Board of Nursing grants licenses to graduates of approved nursing programs who with to obtain licensure though exams. The TBON also approves nursing schools thtat prepare individuals for inital entry into the nursing profession. Lastly the TBON setts the standards for nursing practice and regulated rules by setting minimum stands for nursing practices and education. The investigate complaints against nurses and also resolve those complaints.
