The Texas Nursing Practice Act also known as the NPA outlines the legal boundaries of practice for professional registtered nurses. "Professional Nursing" referts tto tasks that demand significant specialized jugment and skill, which are based on knowledge of bilogical, physical, and social sciences gained through a course in an accredited nursing program.
The RN is responsible for practicing withtin the legal scope of practice and is accountable for their acttions. They are equipped ot work in any healthcare setting and may independently provide nursing care without supervision from another healthcare provider. With a focus on patient safety, the RN must operatte wihtin the boundaries set by federal, state, and local laws, as well as the rulses, regulations, and policies of the hraltthcare instiutuion or practice setting. The RN is asked with delivering safe, compassionate, and comprehensive care to patients and their families with complex health care needs.
