As part of preconception and prenatal care, this toolkit is designed to help women’s healthcare providers meet their patient’s needs to prevent or manage a healthy pregnancy by addressing alcohol use.
The goal of the toolkit is to help clinicians treat people of reproductive age with efficient, evidence-based strategies and resources related to alcohol screening and brief intervention (SBI) so that personal health outcomes are achieved. Alcohol SBI is an effective clinical preventive service designed to identify and help clients reduce harms associated with excessive alcohol use.
This toolkit has been designed to help nursing and midwifery professionals easily access the resources and materials they need to raise awareness of FASDs and FASD prevention strategies, such as alcohol screening and brief intervention, among their colleagues and communities.
It contains an interactive toolkit with information for current and champions-to-be, including nurse administrators, clinical nurses, and nursing and midwifery students, message templates, posters and flyers, and educational opportunities for champions and their colleagues.
This toolkit has been designed to help nursing and midwifery professionals easily access the resources and materials they need to learn more about what we currently know about the impacts of alcohol and polysubstance use during pregnancy and on embryonic, fetal, and childhood development, and to be able to share this information with colleagues and patients.
In addition to brief educational summaries, it includes flyers, posters, and education opportunities to share.
These toolkits can be combined with any of the above toolkits to create a comprehensive resource.
Below are the individual files that can be found in our toolkits, in case you are seeking only one or two resources for use with your colleagues or patients.
