In this episode, members of the NPs, Midwives, and Nurses: Partnering to Prevent FASDs team, Lily Bastian and Alexandra Edwards, along with Gina Schumaker a self-advocate who experiences FASD and is also the current Vice-President of the Board of Directors for the Alaska Center for FASD, and Dr. Mary Dawn Koenig, AWHONN Board Member and Associate Professor at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Nursing, share their insights into how nurses and nurse-midwives can learn more about neurodiversity, living with an FASD, and implementing evidence-based care practices that reduce stigma and educate about the risks of substance and alcohol use.
AWHONN has compiled peer-reviewed articles and other resources on alcohol use and alcohol-exposed pregnancies that can be used by women's health professionals to expand their own knowledge or better advise their patients.
