SPECIALIZED UNITS

The Texas Department of Public Safety has a total of nine specialized units. Each unit has their own responsibility and structure. It is the responsibility of the Unit Captain and Lieutenant to manage their unit while staying in compliance with TXDPS policies and practices. When an Trooper is enlisted into the Texas Department of Public Safety, they have the privillege to select a specialized unit they wish to work in when they reach Senior Trooper. As a brief reminder, each unit has their own policies and practices but is still required to follow all practices and policies published by TXDPS.
