The AFL uses Official HQ to manage, appoint, and pay umpires across Australia.
OHQ requires annual re-registration to keep the list of available umpires current. This ensures accurate communication and payroll processes and allows for efficient appointments processes.

If you do not have an existing AFLiD a guide to create and link it to OHQ can be found HERE
If you already have an AFLiD a guide to link it to OHQ can be found HERE
New Umpires: A guide to filling in your details can be found HERE
Returning Umpires: You information will be auto generated from your previous registration.
Please review the following personal and essential information during registration:
Contact Information: Current mobile phone and email address for communicating appointment information. For umpires younger than 18, please provide contact information for your primary care giver.
Bank Account: For match and travel payments. We cannot take responsibility for payments made into incorrect bank accounts.
WHEN ENTERING YOUR BANK ACCOUNT DETAILS MAKE SURE TO INCLUDE A - BETWEEN THE FIRST AND LAST 3 NUMBER IE: 123-456
Statement by Supplier Form: Umpires must provide a written acknowledgement to the AFL that match payments should not be taxed. This is done by submitting a Statement by Supplier Form. Please upload a photo or PDF of your completed Statement by Supplier Form to your OHQ Profile if you haven’t done so already. In OHQ go to [The Avatar top right of the screen > Account > Appointments > Select the “+” button in Accreditations box > Follow the Prompts]
Statement by Supplier forms can be downloaded: HERE
When completing the form select the following box “The supplier is an individual and has given the payer a written statement to the effect that the supply is either: made in the course or furtherance of an activity done as a private recreational pursuit or hobby”
Working with Children Check: All umpires over the age of 15 must provide a valid working with children check number and upload a photo of their Ochre Card (or valid interstate WWCC Card for visiting umpires).
In OHQ go to [The Avatar top right of the screen > Account > Appointments > Select the “+” button in Accreditations box > Follow the Prompts]
Applications/Renewals for Working with Children Checks can be done: HERE
To avoid clashes between matches that you may be playing in and umpire appointments, it is important that you add all the clubs you are affiliated with to your OHQ profile. In OHQ go to [The Avatar top right of the screen > Account > Appointments > Select the “+” button in Affiliation clubs box > Follow the Prompts]
All registered umpires are assumed to be available for appointments. Umpires must enter leave in OHQ for dates and times which they are not available for match appointments. This can be done from the menu at the top of your OHQ Dashboard. In OHQ go to [My OfficialsHQ > Leaves > Select Dates as applicable > Select the “+” button top right > Follow the Prompts]
It is recommended that umpires review and update their availability every week to ensure accurate appointments. By keeping your availability current, you help us make accurate appointments and reduce the amount of follow-up required.
You would have already received communication from the AFL about the compulsory 2025 Education Modules. Only umpires who have completed this learning module will be eligible for appointments. It takes about 20 minutes to complete the learning.
Please access the learning modules via your OHQ account as directed in the message you received from AFL House. In OHQ go to [The Avatar top right of the screen > Account > Connected accounts > Get e-learning link > Go to e-learning platform > on the AFL Learn page choose Complete the Umpire Education Modules
Please complete this training as soon as possible to avoid frustration later in the season.
Pease visit our How To Guides or contact AFLNT Umpire Coordinator Doug McLean during business hours on 0499 225 305 if you need support.
