The TIO AFLNT Umpire Mentor Program is designed to:
Ensure player and Umpire safety and enjoyment
Deliver consistent and constructive feedback to help new and experienced umpires grow, learn, and thrive
Aid in the development of training plans and off-field learning
Strengthen umpire recruitment, retention, and representation within the NTFL
On Match-day
Arrive at venue 1 hour before Appointed match to Mentor the game
Discuss with the assigned Umpire any goals they may have or any areas they may be working on. This will help provide targeted, relevant feedback
If observing U14s or lower, Mentors are required to be identifiable as officiating Umpires, as they may need to provide on-field support. This means they are to wear the green match-day shirt and be equipped with a whistle
Provide timely feedback using the online AFLNT Mentor Feeback Form (linked below) The form is structured so that a Mentor can quickly and easily provide feedback on critical areas like positioning, decision-making, and game management
