General duties is the direct entry unit of the NSWPF and provides essential policing to the region. General duties handle all sorts of calls including robberies, traffic stops and 000 calls.
The Public Order & Riot Squad (PORS) is a specialised tactical unit of the NSWPF which deals of matters relating to public order, including violent protests, crowd control or hostage situations.
The Tactical Operations Unit (TOU) is the main tactical unit of the NSWPF and is a primary division of the force. The unit deals with all high level calls requiring a reactionary response.
Highway patrol patrols regional communities & maintains roads and traffic control. Highway Patrol takes primary on pursuits and provides essential capabilities such as Motorbike police.
The Proactive Crimes Team (PCT) is specialised unit of unmarked officers who deal with prosecutorial, investigative and preventative tasks within the force.
The State Protection Command (SPC) works as close protection operatives for entitled dignatries and VIPs, especially trained in personal protection, perimetre control and large scale operation command.
The People & Capability Command is an essential corporate services element which includes Academy Education Officers, Community Liason Officers & Human Resources Officers.
The Specialist Investigations Command deals with Professional Standards complaints and police prosecutorial duties. This unit provides essential legal support to officers including a complaints mechanism and prosecution system for criminals.
