Lionel Conroy

Lionel Conroy has played an integral part in sports in his school, the Lismore Diocese, NSWCCC, NSW All Schools and School Sport Australia levels for many years.

Lionel’s first passion is basketball where he first took on a NSWCCC role in 1995 and has had some involvement since, including Convenor 2002 - 2004, committee and as an official through to 2022.

In 2005, Lionel was appointed to the position of NSWCCC Golf convenor, a role he still holds. He has been an official to NSWCCC and NSW All Schools levels in 1996 and then again from 2005 to 2022. Lionel travelled to Adelaide in 2017 as the NSW Team Manager for the Pacific Schools Games.

In 2019, Lionel was appointed to the School Sport Australia Golf National Advisor position, a position he still holds today.

Lionel also has contributed to the fabric of the NSWCCC sport program with involvement on committees such as the Blue Awards 2015 & 2016 and 2018 - 2022, and Lismore Diocesan Sports Council, as President. He also volunteers as an official for Lismore and NSWCCC Athletics and Swimming Championships.

Lionel's contribution has had a substantial effect on students in particular those involved in Golf and Basketball. His knowledge and experience in all sports is great and one in which he shares willingly with other staff, enhancing their own knowledge, skills, and understanding, boosting confidence and improving the students’ experience.

Lionel is a most worthy recipient of this NSWCCC Life Member Award.
