Moonlighting

Moonlighting continues to be a highlight of our program. Northwell’s NS/LIJ Radiology Residency Outpatient Injection Coverage (OPIC) provides qualifying residents the opportunity to gain experience and bolster their salary by covering one of our many outpatient imaging sites. For senior radiology residents, dictating shifts can help increase your volume and case exposure prior to taking the boards and entering the job market. 

We have so many shifts that our residents frequently do not cover them all! We are reimbursed $75/h for 'scanner babysitting' (open to R1, R2, R3, and R4) and $125/h for dictating shifts. When dictating on a weekday (R3 and R4), you need to dictate only 10 studies. When dictating on the weekend (R2, R3, R4) you need to read 25 studies. We can bill for the entire shift, even if contrast studies finish before that time.
