Learn about the team behind Nova Scotia Forests Forever
Hutchinson Acres Maple Syrup Farm is a small, family-run operation located in the heart of Nova Scotia’s forested interior, Annapolis Valley. Owned and operated by Chris and Anna Hutchinson, the farm began in 2004 as a retirement project after years spent running a trucking business. It has since grown into Nova Scotia’s largest organic maple operation, producing more than 75,000 litres of syrup annually. Hutchinson Acres demonstrates how rural business, responsible land use, and sustainable forestry can coexist. Their deep connection to the land is at the heart of everything they do.
The Blomidon Naturalist Society is a long-standing hub for environmental conservation, outdoor education and climate action in the Annapolis Valley. Founded in 1974, the Blomidon Naturalist Society brings together a wide community of naturalists, scientists, educators and nature lovers to explore, understand and protect the natural world. With over 250 members and countless supporters, the Blomidon Naturalist Society runs monthly nature talks, field trips, youth programs and community projects. Their work reflects a belief in shared stewardship, knowledge exchange, and deep connection to place.
