The Multidisciplinary Team working with a Traumatic Brain Injury patient.
Draw a concept map or a visual representation of the multidisciplinary team within your current work environment. (Example to the left)
What are some of the ways you can promote and contribute to multi/interdisciplinary learning at your place of work? Discuss how you can be a positive change agent within your team to foster an environment that values all members of the healthcare team?
Discuss challenges that you anticipate in your work environment regarding multi/interdisciplinary learning and training. Are these challenges logistical, organizational, cultural, or individual? How may you mitigate these challenges?
Reflect on an experience from your practice where you were required to collaborate with a larger multidisciplinary team. Did you feel psychologically safe to speak up in that team? Share on the forum your thoughts on what positively or negatively influenced your perception of psychological safety.
We provided the example of SIM-based learning in our presentation as one of the ways to prepare HCPs for multidisciplinary practice environments. Discuss other methods or approaches of multi/interdisciplinary teaching and learning that you have come across either in practice or in the literature.
We welcome you to post your own discussion topic related to SIM or interdisciplinary learning. Alternatively, we encourage you to share your reflections to the questions we presented throughout our presentation.
We thank you in advance for taking the time to review and participate in our student led seminar. We look forward to learning from your collective experiences, perspectives and expertise.
