We are happy to welcome Prof Mohammad M. Ibrahim to NPSO Laboratory. He is our visiting scientist from 12/07/2023 to 12/09/2023. His research domain is organic synthesis focusing on the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds and multi-component synthesis. We hope you have a good stay with us and we are happy to welcome you to our big family!.

We are happy to welcome Sandra from Universitas Padjadjaran, Indonesia. She will start her research attachment with us for 1 month starting from 25/07/2023-22/08/2023. She will focus her research on natural products specifically on the Meliaceae family.  

We are happy to welcome Acyl Bait from Sigma Clermont, France. He will start the internship with us for 3 months starting from 22/05/2023-11/08/2023. He will focus his research on natural products.  

Official visit to Laboratoire Agronomie et Environnement (LAE), ENSAIA, Universite de Lorraine by our head of laboratory (Dr. Mohamad Nurul Azmi) to discuss future plans between both research groups. This visit was organized by Prof. Dominique Laurain-Mattar and we agreed to collaborate and focus on the application of natural products in agronomy. 

The 6th USM-UL Colloquium was successfully organized between USM and UL from 14-16 March 2023 at Universite de Lorraine, Nancy, France This year marks more than 20 years of our successful and unique partnership. This professional and scholarly colloquium will be mainly attended by approximately 50 researchers from Universite de Lorraine, France, and Universiti Sains Malaysia, encompassing various areas of collaborative research. The USM-UL collaboration that was initiated in 1999 has contributed immensely to the advancement of research through its joint publications, attachments, workshops and meetings.  

Official visit to campus Gif, Institut de Chimie des Substances Naturelles (ICSN), CNRS by our head of laboratory (Dr Mohamad Nurul Azmi). This visit was planned to discuss the future collaboration between NPSO Lab and ICSN, CNRS in the Natural Products domain. He also had a discussion with his ex-supervisor Dr. Marc Litaudon who is now the Deputy Director of ICSN, CNRS.  

Official visit and visiting Scientist for 2 weeks at Laboratoire de Synthese Organique (LSO), Ecole Polytechnique by our head of laboratory (Dr Mohamad Nurul Azmi). This visit was planned to discuss the future collaboration between NPSO Lab and LSO in the organic synthesis domain. He also had a discussion with his ex-supervisor Dr. Yvan Six who is now the Deputy Director of LSO, Ecole Polytechnique and also Prof. Dr Samir Zard (Ex-Director of LSO).  

We are happy to welcome Intan from Universitas Padjadjaran, Indonesia. She will start her research attachment with us for 1 month starting from 06/02/2023-05/03/2023. She will focus her research on natural products specifically on the Meliaceae family.

A halfday seminar was organize by our laboratory to uderstand the use of ChemDraw. This program was deliver by our postgraduate student Mr. Muhammad Solehin on 22/02/2023 at 2.30pm via webex platform. 

NPSO was awarded 1 international between Malaysia and France governments under Hubert Curien Partnership (PHC) Hibiscus program. The title of the project is " A New Strategy for the Discovery of Anti-proliferative Azasteroid Devivatives (STRAD)". The final presentation was done on 31/1/2023 at the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE), Putrajaya. This project was successfully closed and the outcome of this project was achieved.  

This 2 hours lecture will be given by Dr. Mohamad Nurul Azmi to Master (MSc) students from Universitas Padjajaran, Indonesia. This lecture will discuss the general information and application of NMR spectroscopy in organic synthesis and natural products chemistry.
