CUTTING TO OPEN THE BRIGHT FUTURE

OBJETIVE

This paper-cutting workshop was started with the idea that there is something we can do for the people of the Philippines who are suffering from the long-term curfew due to the novel coronavirus infection.

Due to long-term restrictions on going out, many people are unable to go to school or work and feel anxiety and stress about their lives. To alleviate that feeling even a little bit, we hope that the artwork that freely expresses you will bring some comfort and healing to your heart.

When we tried to hold an "online workshop" using "Zoom", many people wanted to participate, and so on, various voices from the heart were sent. Kirie is a traditional painting technique in which a pre-drawn sketch is fixed on another sheet of paper and unnecessary parts are cut out to create an image. Anyone can do their own job depending on a little ingenuity and ideas. It can be done with familiar materials and tools, and by holding workshops, you can feel a sense of accomplishment in creating work and establishing a place where you can create a sense of unity with the participants. therefore, hoping that it will be an opportunity to reconsider my positive feelings and myself. On this occasion, more than expected, 80 people participated and 247 works were collected. Each work has originality, and each work has its own thoughts.
