Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Racism Workshop (Part 1): "Becoming Anti-Racist"

Description: Through real-world scenarios, interactive discussions, a series of tools, and opportunities to practice newfound skills in response to conscious and unconscious behaviors, this workshop effectively teaches participants to become upstanders—rather than bystanders—when it comes to issues of race. "COVID Conversations" with Dr. Yvonne Flores

Description: Join FSPH's UCLA Center for Global and Immigrant Health and Students of Color for Public Health on National Public Health Week for a discussion on liver disease in the U.S. and Mexico. Liver disease is one of the main causes of death for Latinos in the U.S., and is the 6th leading cause of death in Mexico. Latinos now have the highest incidence of, and mortality from, liver cancer of all racial/ethnic groups in the U.S. Dr. Yvonne Flores incorporates different methodological approaches in her bi-national liver disease-related research, which include primary data collection, analysis of large data sets (e.g. SEER, NHANES), and biologically-driven research with clinical and laboratory data to identify molecular and genetic markers for detection and treatment of disease.

Description: Tune in to hear about the ever pressing issue of Children’s Mental Health from esteemed health professionals and researchers in the field. Our panelists will offer their perspectives on why children’s mental health is more crucial now than ever before and what we as public health professionals can do to be part of the solution. Topics will include trauma-informed care with children and families, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), substance abuse, community-based care, pre-K mental health, and many more!
