About the Students of Color for Public Health (SCPH)

Founded in 2001, the SCPH provides opportunities for students across departments to express public health interests and also discuss health issues of concern to communities of color. SCPH was formed to strengthen the social support, career networking, and advocacy efforts for UCLA Fielding School of Public Health students and alumni of color.

SCPH's Role in National Public Health Week at UCLA

  • Since 2012, SCPH has presented and facilitated NPHW efforts at UCLA, with a focus on creating spaces for FSPH and all UCLA students to explore and learn about public health topics.

  • We coordinate with faculty, staff, and student organizations to co-develop a full schedule of activities and events that recognize the importance of public health and highlight issues that our peers care deeply about.

SCPH aims to be a resource for all NPHW student organization partners and promote a collaborative environment for all organizers to share and discuss their ideas with peers.
