Work requirements:
1 – 2 X A4 pages of composition planning
1 X black and white print outs of your chosen photograph to use for transfer
1 X A4 page Final composition drawing
Your design must include:
-A NZ bird, animal, icon, floral, fauna symbol or landscape or one from your own culture
-Traditional or contemporary Maori patterns or patterns from your own culture
-A number eg you house number, the year you were born, the value of your stamp the year you moved to NZ…
In your workbook you will then do 4 small plans of your composition for your linocut (A4). When planning your composition you will need to consider the follow:
1. What is the focal point in your composition?
2. How will you adapt Maori pattern into your design?
3. How will you present your text? (note this will need to be written backwards, mirror image)
4. What areas of your print will be positive and negative? What will be the areas you carve out?
Choose your most successful composition plan from your 4 smaller plans and draw full size on a new A4 workbook page.
You will need to source, print or photocopy your images to the size you will need it ready to transfer onto your lino.(remember when we transfer the image will come out mirror imaged so you may like to flip your image before you print it.)
