We are highlighting a few 'Forms" of Daylilies this winter. Spider, Unusual, and Double Daylily forms.

Spider Daylilies - The "Spider" classification of daylilies is based on the length to width ratio of the petals. To be registered as such a daylily's longest petal, usually the bottom one, must be at least 4 times longer than it is wide.

Tigereye Spider - Reed

Rolling Raven - Stamile

Suzy Cream Cheese - Bachman

Unusual Form Daylilies - The "Unusual Form" classification of Daylilies (UF) is based only on form or shape, not on colour or patterns. The flower of a UF class daylily must have "distinctive petal, sepal or a combination of both petal and sepal shapes".

Big Banana - Schwarz-B

Quirky - Couturier-G

Hurricane Bob - Schwarz-B

Double Daylily - Double daylilies come in several different forms. 'Hose-in-Hose' doubles have extra layers of petals so that there appears to be a flower within a flower. 'Peony type' doubles have petaloid (petal-like) tissue on the stamens inside the normal petal layer.
