Nottingham City Regatta
Saturday 11th May 2024
Six lanes (2000 m) at the National Watersports Centre (Holme Pierrepont)
Events
The regatta has two divisions, morning and afternoon: within each division no doubling-up is allowed. Sharing of equipment within a division is at clubs' own risk.
For each boat type, we offer Championship, Intermediate and Development events, all of which will take place within a single division. In the "opposite" division, we offer an unbanded event for the same boat type, open to all crews. This gives an opportunity for doubling-up if desired: for example, an Open sculler could enter Championship.1x in the morning and the Unbanded 1x event in the afternoon.
The intention is that clubs' top crews will enter the "Championship" events, less experienced crews will enter the "Intermediate" events, and relatively inexperienced crews enter the "Development" events. Suggested average PRIs for the Intermediate and Development events are 200 and 50 respectively.
Within each event, an Academic prize will be awarded to the highest placed University or School crew (there must be at least two University or School entries for this to be awarded, and it will not be awarded if the University/School wins the event overall).
We reserve the right to move a crew to a higher band of event if their CRI is significantly above the average for the event, i.e. to upgrade Intermediate to Championship, Development to Intermediate, etc.

Parking
All vehicles are subject to the NWSC's parking charges. A discount code has been set up so that parking on both the 11th and 12th will cost £10 - but unfortunately there is no discount available for one day's parking, which will cost £7.50.
Details on how to access the discounted charge will be sent out with Competitors' Instructions.
Note that these charges are not set by the regatta.
Conditions of entry
General
The Regatta is open to all club and composite crews.
All competitors must provide their own boats and blades.
All boats must be fitted with slots for numbers on the bows.
The draw
The draw will be made in Nottingham Rowing Club on Saturday 5th May at 1 pm. It will be published on this website on Tuesday 7th May.
The maximum number of entries in any single event is 18. If there are more than 18 entries in a single event then we will either: (a) split the event into two separate events, each having <= 18 entries; (b) implement a time trial system to reduce the number of entries to 18; (c) cap the entries at 18 using criteria of payment, date of payment, time of entry, or, if all else fails, draw lots.
If there are insufficient entries in a crew's entered event then the default action will be to "upgrade" the crew (e.g. if there are insufficient entries in a Development event then the entry will be moved to the corresponding Intermediate event, and so forth). If this is not the preferred outcome then it should be indicated in the notes on the entry.
The committee reserves the right to alter the list of entries to correct a mistake of the Regatta, or should it be in the best interests of racing.
Competitors
All competitors must be able to produce a valid BR racing licence on demand.
Coxes requiring deadweight must bring their own clearly identifiable weights.
Coxes and lightweight athletes will be weighed not more than two hours, nor less than one hour, before the published time of the first race in the event.
Lightweight events will not be banded by CRI
Junior events will not be banded by CRI. The committee reserves the right to move junior crews to corresponding senior events on the basis of CRI if no appropriate junior event can be formed.
Prizes
Immediately after a final, winners will be instructed to proceed directly to the presentation pontoon. Be aware of rule 8 above.
