Racing is over the last 1000 m of the 2000 m course. All races begin at the Intermediate Start Tower (at the 1000 m marker) and will end at the Finish Tower.
The order of races will be in line with the programme.
The primary duty of every race official is to care for the safety of competitors and spectators. We will have three safety launches operating throughout the day: at the Start, at the Finish and at 500 m.
Umpires have been asked to strictly enforce the Circulation Pattern shown below.
In case of medical emergency, all Race Officials can contact Central Medical Services, who are situated at the Finish.
All boats may be inspected by the Control Commission before being allowed onto the water. To expedite this process, please check your own boat before boating: as a minimum we suggest checking the bow-ball, hatch covers, heel restraints, flotation bags (if fitted), quick release foot stretchers (if fitted) and (importantly) coxswains’ life jackets.
Coxes must be weighed before their first race and will be issued with a wristband. Weighing-in will be in the cabin in the boating area.
The minimum weights for coxes are:
45 kg – J15 and younger crews.
55 kg – all other crews
There will be NO practice sessions on either Saturday evening or Sunday morning.
This circulation applies from 30 minutes BEFORE the first race, until after the last race has finished.
Failure to comply with these rules may lead to the removal of the crew or club from the Regatta.
Note that the lakeside markers count DOWN from 2000m to the Finish (0m). The Start is at 1000 m.
Before the start of your race, please do not proceed past the 1500 m marker. Warming up should be done in your lane, between 1000 m and 1500 m.
Bow numbers can be collected from the cabin in the boating area no more than 45 minutes and no less than 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of your race.
Please be afloat at least 20 minutes prior to your race time.
Access to the Start is via Lane 7 only - but do not warm up in Lane 7.
Assuming that your crew has allowed sufficient time before the start of your race, you may warm up by continuing in Lane 7 past the Start to the 1500 m marker. Here, you should turn into your allocated racing lane and warm up as you make your way back towards the start. Note: you must be attached and ready to race two minutes before your race time.
Please ‘form up’ into your race as you approach the Start, always following Marshals/Umpires instructions.
The start process will be as set out in the BR Rules of Racing - the start of the race will be marked by the dropping of a red flag that may be accompanied by an audible and/or visible signal.
Please ensure that you are attached & ready to race TWO MINUTES in advance of your official race time (regatta time is displayed at the Start on a big digital clock, situated adjacent to the aligners hut).
Caution: the start pontoon's mooring cable runs across Lane 7, and will be marked by a yellow sausage-shaped buoy. Please take care when approaching the Start.
All races will end at the Finish Tower - a buzzer will sound as you cross the line.
All races will be timed as far as possible.
Crews who have finished their race and wish to cool down should proceed in Lane 7 to the 500m marker.
Here, after checking that the course is clear, they should turn into Lane 5 and paddle briskly to the Finish.
The winner of each event will be presented with a medal. Under Marshals' or Umpires' instructions, the winning crew should turn quickly after the finish and proceed in Lane 0 to the presentation pontoon. Please do not proceed if there is a race entering the final 250 m of the course - follow Marshals'/Umpires' instructions.
Once the presentation is complete your crew will be held on the pontoon until there is a gap in racing, at which time you should push off, turn, and proceed to the boating area using Lanes 1 or 2. Do not cool down in Lane 0.
