Message: God reveals himself through both Sacred Scripture and Tradition. The New Testament is revealed in the Old Testament and the Old is fulfilled in the New.
Prayer: Hail Mary
Have you ever tried to play a new game and read the instructions or had someone tell you the instructions and didn’t quite put it all together until you actually played the game? God knows that this is how we work. It helps to read and to learn about things from others but we need to use our senses in order to fully understand it. Throughout the Old Testament, God revealed himself to us through prophets. These stories were written down so that generations could understand who God is and what He wants us to do. Since we always fall back into the cycle of sin, God spoke through the prophets and foretold the coming of a Messiah to save us from this cycle of sin.
Jesus fulfilled these prophecies of the Old Testament and pointed back to them throughout the Gospels. He showed us who God really is and who he really wants us to be. Jesus showed us how to live as God’s children on earth through each of our senses. He gave St. Peter the keys, the teaching authority, and gave all of the apostles a mission to make disciples of all nations and authority to bind and loose. These apostles then anointed bishops and as the church grew and grew the need for priests arose. This Magisterium is entrusted with the deposit of faith contained in both Sacred Scripture and Tradition. It gives us the correct interpretation of Scripture and protects against anyone changing Scripture as they see fit to match the lifestyle they want to live. God continues to guide us through the gift of the Holy Spirit who leads the Magisterium.

November 3rd: St. Martin de Porres (Give non-perishable food to the food pantry, invite yoru neighbors over for a meal or mail a gift card to someone in need.
November 5-11th: Vocations Awareness Week (Talk about the vocations fo dedicated single life, marriage, religious life, and the priesthood, and how you discerned marriage.
November 5th: Sts. Elizabeth and Zechariah (Say the Hail Mary together as a family. St. Elizabeth was the first to say, "Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb!".)
November 17th: St. Elizabeth of Hungary (Bake a loaf of bread together.)

November 1st: All Saints Day (Begin a family prayer tradition by researching the Saint of the Day.)
November 2nd: All Souls Day (Pray for all of your family members and friends who have passed away.)
November 21st: Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Talk to your child about their baptism and why it was and is important.)
November 26th: Thanksgiving Day (Center the day in prayer at each moment, thanking God for all that He has given your family.)

5 Minutes: Read the weekend’s Gospel passage as a family. This could take place of a bedtime story or prayer time if needed. You can find the weekend’s Gospel passage by going to: https://bible.usccb.org. Or you could also download the Laudate app for free on Apple or Android. In the Laudate app they also offer a reflection for the readings that you can share with your child(ren). Goal: Child will learn how to prepare for going to Mass and in knowing the readings ahead of Mass, they will be able to pick up on pieces of the passage they may not have noticed before.
15 Minutes: Talk about your family’s Thanksgiving traditions and how it has changed over the years and why you do what you do as a family that day. List things you are each thankful for this year. Relate this tradition to the “big T” Tradition of the Church—there’s a reason for everything we do as Catholics and if we don’t understand something we can talk to our “family” and find out more about it. Goal: Child will learn how our family life relates to our bigger family life as a Church.
30 Minutes: Talk about the Saint you chose as your Confirmation Saint and why you chose them instead of the thousands of other Saints you were able to choose from. If your child was named after a Saint, share with them why you chose that name for them. Remind your child that all of the Saints are examples of how we can live on earth to the fullest and that our goal in life is to be a Saint. Let them know that none of the Saints were perfect since they were all human, but they continued to build their relationship with God and put others before themselves. Together, choose a Saint to pray for your family for the month of November. Goal: Through your witness, the child will see that they can ask the Saints to pray for them and look to the Saint’s life as an example on how to live their life on earth.

Participants will be able to describe how the Old Testament covenants and prophets foretold the coming of Jesus.
Participants will be able to define Holy Tradition and be able to describe the importance of Holy Tradition to others.
