Cornerstone Team

One of the most important steps in launching Cornerstone is prayerfully discerning who you invite to be part of your Cornerstone Team. Every role on the team is vital to the success of Cornerstone within your parish community.

Role descriptions are an important part of this discernment process. They help you understand what each role entails, identify parishioners whose God-given gifts and talents may be a good fit, and give those individuals the opportunity to prayerfully discern whether God is calling them to serve.

Begin by looking through your parish roster, census, or directory. Make a list of parishioners you believe would bring important gifts and strengths to each Cornerstone role. Once you have identified potential team members, send each person a personal letter explaining why you believe their God-given gifts would be a good fit for the role you are inviting them to consider. Include the Cornerstone brochure for the year along with the role description(s) you believe best match their gifts.

In your letter, let them know that you will follow up with a phone call on a specific date if you have not heard from them. This approach gives each person time to pray, talk with God, and thoughtfully discern whether this particular role is right for them—or whether they may feel called to serve in another area of the Cornerstone program.

Remember, the goal is not simply to fill positions. It is to invite people to prayerfully discover where God may be calling them to use their gifts in building Cornerstone within your parish.

Prayer Team

As a member of the prayer team, your role will be to intercede for the Cornerstone program and it's families in prayer each week.

Site Coordinator

As a site coordinator, your role is to make each night run as smoothly as possible. You will be the point-person for the questions and needs from adults including catechists, aides and parents.

Site Supervisor

As a site supervisor, your role is to make sure our campus remains safe for all participants from the beginning to the end of the session. You will be the point-person for the students when they have questions about where to go and will redirect them as needed to their classrooms.

Catechists

As a catechist, your role will include guiding participants at a specific age level to discover the faith and how to live it out in their own lives. This is done through being a witness of your personal relationship with Jesus Christ, speaking about your Catholic faith, and making each participant feel that they belong. Lessons are written for you that you are expected to follow.

Catechist Aides

As a catechist aide, your role will include being an assistant to the lead catechist by taking attendance, making copies, and being helpful during the session in other ways. By doing this, you will assist in guiding participants at a specific age level to discover the faith and how to live it out in their own lives.

Hospitality Team

As a member of the hospitality team, your role will be to create a positive and welcoming environment for participants by greeting them and answering questions they may have about where to go.
