NorthWood FCCLA

FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) is a student-led organization focused on leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences. Our chapter empowers students through service projects, competitions, and real-world skill building.

To promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner, and community leader, members develop skills for life through character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation.

NorthWood FCCLA was officially chartered in November 2023. Since that time, some things that we have accomplished include: 

• 2 National Leadership Conference qualifiers

• 6 Gold Medals at State Leadership Conference

• 11 Silver Medals at State Leadership Conference

• 4 Bronze Medals at State Leadership Conference

• 1 Gold Medal and 1st Place Finisher at Fall Competition Day

• 1 Bronze Medal at Fall Competition Day

• 3 years of attendance at Fall Leadership Rally

• Chapter officer attendance at Fall Leadership Institute (2025, Anaheim, California)

• Catered 20 events within the Wa-Nee Community

• Baked and sold over 2,000 cookies

• Hosted 8 standalone bake sales

• Participated in 2 local festivals

Our FCCLA chapter offers hands-on experiences that build leadership, career skills, and real-world confidence. Through a variety of opportunities, members grow both inside and outside the classroom.

Leadership Development

• We believe leadership is learned by doing. Members take on officer roles, lead meetings, plan events, and collaborate with peers to make decisions that impact our chapter and community. Through workshops, conferences, and real-world experiences, students build confidence, communication skills, and the ability to lead with purpose.

Competitive Events

• Members have the opportunity to compete in Family, Career and Community Leaders of America events at the regional, state, and national levels. These events allow students to showcase their knowledge and skills in areas like culinary arts, nutrition, teaching, and leadership. Through preparation and competition, students gain valuable experience in presentation, professionalism, and career readiness.

Community Service

• Giving back is at the heart of what we do. Our chapter organizes and participates in service projects that support our school and local community. Whether it’s hosting events, volunteering time, or creating meaningful initiatives, members learn the importance of service, responsibility, and making a positive impact.

Culinary & Classroom Projects

• In our Family and Consumer Sciences classrooms, learning goes beyond textbooks. Students participate in hands-on culinary labs, catering opportunities, and collaborative projects that apply real-world skills. From preparing meals for events to creating nutrition education materials, members gain practical experience that prepares them for future careers and everyday life.

Through all of these experiences, FCCLA members develop leadership, responsibility, and skills that last far beyond high school.
