My name is Steven Alexie, and I am the owner of Northern Alaska Consulting & Bookkeeping, formerly known as Yupik Bookkeeping. I am an Alaska Native professional originally from the Kuskokwim region, with a deep commitment to supporting Tribal governments, cities, nonprofits, and small businesses across Alaska.
I specialize in Tribal financial management, federal grant compliance, and bookkeeping, with experience supporting ISDEAA 638 contracts, Office of Self-Governance (OSG) compacting, and programs funded by BIA, IHS, ANA, EPA, HUD, and other federal and state agencies. My work blends professional accounting standards—including 2 CFR Part 200 (Uniform Guidance)—with practical, culturally grounded solutions designed for rural and remote communities.
I hold multiple professional certifications in bookkeeping, payroll, and accounting software, including advanced QuickBooks credentials, and I am committed to accuracy, accountability, and continuous learning. Unlike large firms, I provide direct, hands-on support, working closely with leadership to strengthen internal controls, improve financial systems, and prepare organizations for audits and long-term stability.
Above all, my mission is to help Alaska communities build strong financial foundations that support self-determination, transparency, and sustainable growth—so leaders can focus on serving their people with confidence.
