Taking our mission of supporting underrepresented and minority groups to heart, many of our members are involved in outreach programs! Below is a list of some programs that GWiP members have been/are involved with.
The Petey Greene Program: The Petey Greene Program supports the academic goals of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people through high-quality volunteer tutoring programs, while educating volunteers on the injustice manifest in our carceral system and encouraging them to engage in justice-oriented activism to reimagine the criminal legal system.
BioBus: BioBus helps K-12 and college students in the Northeast discover, explore, and pursue science. They focus on students excluded from the scientific community due to factors such as race, gender, economic status, and physical access.
WOW STEM: World of Women in STEM (WOW STEM) contributors make videos, write posts, and come up with fun activities that are focused on science, technology, engineering, and math and the women+ who have been part of these fields throughout history.
Scientists for Palestine: Scientists for Palestine is an international organisation created by and for scientists to promote science and support the integration of the occupied Palestinian territories in the international scientific community.
Women in Technology at CERN: WiT at CERN is a group where colleagues could exchange ideas on common topics and share career advice and experiences.Â
Science Club for Girls: Science Club for Girls' mission is to foster excitement, confidence, and literacy in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) for girls and gender-expansive youth from underrepresented communities by providing free, experiential programs and by maximizing meaningful interactions with women-in-STEM mentors.
