The Summer Sunset Series consists of 3 races, each on the second Tuesday of the months of June, July, and August. The start time for the fun run (1 mile) is approximately 7:00-7:15 pm with the 5k commencing around 7:30 pm. The course starts at the old tennis courts of SLU (now it's a soccer field/parking lot) and will have you running along grass, pavement, and gravel. Enjoy the beautiful view of the SLU campus and a portion of Canton near the Best Western as you run along the course and down to the Avenue of the Elms. Beware of Bees! (IYKYK). Complete all 3 races to get the fabled and much sought after Summer Sunset T-shirt! Design changes yearly and represents the races of the year. (Lightning storm, anyone?)
The T-shirts are legendary and a must-have! What's the oldest you still have? (Mine is from 1986! Pretty sure it belongs to my dad, unless I was running at 2 years old.)
Cost is around like $10ish per series.
The Frozen Foote Series is a 4 race series, each on the second Saturday of the months of December, January, February, and March. The start time for the run is officially at 10:30 am, starting at the circle at SLU (near the gym). However, many participants choose to run/walk the course early. The course starts at the circle and runs down Miner Street Road in a true out-and-back style. The race distance strive for 4 miles, but if you're like me, you will consistently get 3.89 on your GPS! (How do they do that?)
Complete just 3 of the 4 series (or go for gold and do all 4) and you can receive another much sought after LONG SLEEVE T-shirt commemorating that season's series. It's normally a beautiful series where you will legitimately freeze your feet! Normal temperatures for the race run around 30, either above or below 0. The last few years have had us wondering, with some seeing temps in the 50s!
Cost is around $10ish per series.
