VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS
Must be currently licensed to provide services in the state of North Carolina. If you work at an agency, you will need an agency agreement authorizing treatment at your agency and coverage of malpractice insurance.
Must maintain Malpractice Insurance.
Completion of EMDR Basic Training with copy of Basic Training Certificate of Completion. The Certificate of Completion verifies that you have completed Basic Training Parts 1 and 2 in addition to 10 hours of consultation.
Basic Training was received by an EMDRIA approved training program.
Agree to adhere to the model: Depending on the need of the person requesting services and expertise of our EMDR therapists, we will provide up to FOUR free sessions using:
the standard EMDR eight phase protocol
the Recent Traumatic Events Protocol
the Group Traumatic Events Protocol (R-TEP/G-TEP)
EMD
the Recent Events Protocol
or the Immediate Stabilization Procedure (priority requirement of this membership).
Must become a volunteer member of the Humanitarian Assistance Programs (HAP), which is the international affiliate organization for all TRN chapters, including North Carolina TRN. See our next section below to begin the application process.
HOW TO BECOME A VOLUNTEER CLINICIAN
To Join our Trauma Recovery Network you must first sign up to be a Trauma Recovery/HAP Volunteer. HAP is the “parent” organization that coordinates the activities of all the TRNs. To join Trauma Recovery/HAP:
1. Go to the Trauma Recovery/HAP website at: emdrhap.org
2. Hold your mouse over “Volunteers” and then click on “Create a Volunteer Account”
3. Follow the prompts to fill out all the pages and save each page once completed.
4. On the final page of filling in the requested information look for: “Trauma Recovery Network Information. If you wish to volunteer for the Trauma Recovery Network you may apply here.”
5. Click on that section - This will take you to the list of all the Trauma Recovery Networks.
6. Find North Carolina TRN and click on that.
7. You will now be considered as an “Applicant” for our TRN.
8. Our TRN Coordinator will be notified by HAP to change your status from “Applicant” to “Member” once you have designated North Carolina as the TRN chapter you have joined.
9. Finally, please complete the Clinician Volunteer Log Form here, if you have not already done so.
10 You will then be contacted by one of the North Carolina TRN Co-coordinators to confirm that your membership is active and to provide additional information to you about our Chapter. We thank you for your interest!
