After the first round of knock outs we moved to the last 8.

Wortwell (Mick) played Reepham (Stephen) with Stephen coming out the winner.
Reepham (Peter) played Brockdish (Charley) with Charley coming out the winner.
Reepham (Matt) played Syleham (Les) with Matt coming out the winner.
The semi-finals brought two one-sided games. The two Reepham comrades were pitted against each other, with Matt taking a 13-0 victory and Stephen retiring at the end of the fifth end.
Meanwhile, on the other carpet, Charley from Brockdish played Chris from Tacolneston, with Charley dealing Chris an impressive 9-1 defeat, also only getting to five ends.
The final was exactly as you would expect from two seasoned players. Charley went toe to toe with Matt, going 3-2 up against him ahead of the 5th end. Unfortunately for him, Matt then got a full 4 shots in that end, and a further 2 shots in the 6th end. A game well played, but unfortunately not enough to tear the title from the 9-time Singles' winner.

Reepham and Brockdish battled hard in the first 3 ends with Reepham then starting to control the game. Eventually coming out on top to meet Wortwell in the final.
With a repeat of last years final Reepham vs Wortwell (although both teams being different players)
The game was very close with single shots being scored on each end after 6 ends Wortwell leading 4-2.
Reepham managing to take the final end but only scoring a single the title went back to Wortwell.
Congratulations to Wortwell!
Norfolk held the NCBA Pairs tournament at Wortwell
This years competition had 25 teams enter, these were divided in to 5 groups of 5 teams with the winners of each group and 3 highest runners up going through to the next stage.
The people that got through to the next round were Brockdish, Kenninghall, Wortwell, Reepham Robins, Tacolneston, Syleham, Pulham, Sea Palling.
The semi finals were between Syleham vs Brockdish and Reepham vs Tacolneston.
With Syleham taking the early ends and then building on that with a final score of 8-3 they moved on in to the final.
Reepham started the brighter of the 2 teams and kept the pressure on, finally running out winners 9-2 and moving to the final.
The final between Syleham and Reepham was a very interesting game with the first 2 ends scoring 3 but one for each team (3-3) Syleham took the 3rd with a single (4-3)
Reepham respond scoring a strong end of 4 with Syleham unable to run the jack back. (4-7)
Syleham taking the next 2 ends first with a single and then with a double to level the score again with one end to play (7-7)
The final end with Reepham managing to get a wood on the jack Syleham manage to remove it but unfortunately not far enough with Reepham having a wood to play taking the shot to win the game (7-8)

Norfolk held the NCBA Singles tournament at Wortwell.

In to the Knockout rounds we had 2 Kenninghall, 3 Tacolneston, 3 Wortwell, 2 Syleham, 4 Reepham, 1 Southrepps and 1 Sea Palling
After the first round of knock outs we moved to the last 8.
Kenninghall (Phyllis) played Reepham (Matt). Matt coming out with the win.
Kenninghall (Rosemary) played Reepham (Stephen) with Stephen coming out the winner.
Reepham (Trevor) Played Tacolneston (Chris) With Trevour coming out the winner.
Wortwell (Steve) played Syleham (Arthur) with Steve coming out the winner.
The semi-finals brought two wonderful games. Stephen from Reepham played Steve
from Wortwell, and Matt and Trevor from Reepham played one another. In near
perfect timing, both Stephen and Matt went one shot down. They both clawed back
in the next end, Matt getting one shot and Stephen getting two. The next end saw
both games go 3-1 to the Frosts. The next three ends saw both Matt and Stephen
gaining points. Steve and Stephen deciding not to play their last end, leaving their
score at 7-1. Matt and Trevor played all 7, with Trevor gaining one shot, finishing the
game 7-2.
The final left nothing to desire. In a game where the woods have been described as
“unable to be placed better if I went down and put them there”, every shot seemed
perfect. Matt had an unlucky first two ends, dropping two shots. Not to be beaten,
especially by his father, he managed to gain a shot on the third end. Stephen one-
upped him once again, gaining one shot in end four. The fifth end saw Matt getting
two shots, putting the game at 3-3. Just when you think that Matt was about to steal
the show with 3 woods holding, Stephen managed the perfect shot, resulting in a
dead end. After an absolute nail biter, Matt managed to scrape through and win the
game, maintaining his title as Norfolk singles champion for the 6th year in a row.
Runner-up and Winner 2024
This Years Norfolk rinks being held at Wortwell had 12 teams enter.
The teams were divided in to 2 groups of 6 with every team playing each other. The winners and the Runners up from each group would go through to the semi finals.
With group 1 playing followed by group 2 it meant that all the group games were played at the same time.
It all came down to the last session of the group games with Reepham Robins 1 knowing a win would see them go through as group winner. They managed to see out the game with Southrepps 1 coming in 2nd both only losing the 1 game but with Reepham having the better shot score.
Group 2 was very close battle with Reepham Robins 2 having not lost a game coming up against a Wortwell side that needed the win to get 8 points. With Southrepps 2 knowing a win in the last game would also see them on 8 points. Southrepps took a comfortable win over Pulham St Mary all eyes moved to the other game. Wortwell always managing to keep in front until the last end Reepham got a 2 to make it a draw. This meant Reepham Robins 2 group winners and Southrepps 2 runners up.
Both Semi Finals would be Reepham vs Southrepps. Both of the semi finals very closely matched with Reepham Robins 2 managing to always keep Southrepps trailing to take the win. Story on the other carpet was not the same with some confusion over the score the match was then tied at 6-6 with 2 ends to play. Reepham Robins 1 managed to take both the last 2 ends to come through.
This meant that it was a Reepham Robins show down. Reepham Robins 2 took the lead early and continued to build on that through out the game and coming through eventual winners 8-4.
Congratulations to Both Reepham teams.

Norfolk Singles competition was held at Wortwell on 20th October
With 48 players entering they were divided in to 8 groups of 6 with everyone playing each other. Group winners and runners up went through to the knock out stages.
We pick up the action in the semi finals with Defending Champion Matt (Reepham Robins) vs Phyllis (Kenninghall) the other draw was Sue (Reepham Robins) vs Ray (Aubugh)
The early ends between Matt and Phyllis were exchanged with the score 1-2 after 3 ends played with the Champion behind but managing to pick up a 2 followed by 2 scores of 3 the game was over with Phyllis conceding the game.
The other game between Sue and Ray was a very close affair but with Ray always being in control managed to hold on and see out the victory.
The final Between Matt and Ray:
First end: Matt starting off the better holding 2 until his last wood was too heavy cutting it back to 1.
2nd end: was pretty much a repeat of the 1st and again Matt manages to be holding 3 this time but Ray does a good running shot to cut it down to 1 2-0
3rd End: little bit better from Ray making some good draws but again it is Matt that wins the battle and manages to steal another 1. 3-0
4th End: Matt starts off well and is holding Ray pushes it back but Matt does 2 good draws to make it a count of 2. 5-0
5th End: Good exchange this end with the jack being moved about with Ray holding Matt manages to draw in to take the end and Ray could not reply. 6-0
6th End: Matt is a little heavy with his first 2 woods and Ray makes him pay. Matt draws in but is still down 1. Ray cant make it 2 again. Matt with a good running shot pushes the jack to the back of the carpet to hold 2. Ray does a good draw to take the end. Unfortunately with not enough ends the game was over.
Congratulations to Matt Frost for winning the title for the 3rd year in a row.

Norfolk fours competition was held at Wortwell on 29th September.
Only 15 teams entered this years competition meaning that they had been divided in to 3 groups of 5 with the winners and 1 highest runner-Up going in to the Knock outs.
Reepham Robins won Group 1, Wortwell won Group 2 and with 3 teams on 6 points in Group 3 it was Brockdish that came out winners in that group. It was no surprise that the highest runner-up came from group 3 with Antingham just missing out topping the group by 2 shots and Roydon a further 6 shots back from them
Semi Finals lined up with Reepham taking on Brockdish and Wortwell taking on Antingham.
Both semi finals were very close and well battled through out with Brockdish managing to over come Reepham with the last bowl winning 6-5. In the other semi final Antingham managed to hold on and pip Wortwell 6-4 with the last wood making sure that they were off to the final.
After meeting already in the day Brockdish would once again take on Antingham.
With a very poor carpet and only 1 side really being able to be played it was Brockdish that took an early start to the game with Antingham struggling with the pace of the carpet. The first 3 ends going the way of Brockdish and them having a 4-0 lead.
Antingham finally started to pick up the pace and started the fight back with Joy managing to get on and Brockdish not able to more it on the next end 4-1.
End 5 : Brockdish start off the better and does not look good for Antingham but Gillian manages to push the jack back away from the 3 that Brockdish held to hold themselves. Ken tries to get through the woods but ends up gifting another. 4-3
End 6 : This time Antingham start off building a good head but it is quickly cut down to 1. With no movement on it from the skips and no improvement the game is tied going in to the last end. 4-4
Last end : the end is very spread out until Joyce manages to draw in a good shot wood. With Gillian not being able to move or promote a wood up Brockdish take the Title 6-4.
Congratulations to Brockdish

The Norfolk champions traveled up to Stanley to take part in this years Champions of Champions.
The team had changed slightly with Mick Fisher being well enough to take his place back in the Rinks with all other disciplines the same as the Eastern Counties.
Norfolk went in high sprites and are very happy to announce that the Triples of Doris, Matt and Stephen Frost came out as overall winners by a single point over the course of the 2 days event.
With the 2 winners meeting at Woodton to see who would be crowned champion.
The winners of the Broadland League: Reepham Robins vs the winners of the South Norfolk league: Kenninghall.
In a repeat of last years play off Reepham Robins hoping that the result would be a little different.
The 2 lots of Rinks were played with Reepham Robins dominating one carpet while Kenninghall dominating the other.
First round of pairs went the exact same way with them being split both fairly big scores. This meant that shots may play a big part as they did last year. This time Reepham having the upper hand.
Last round of pairs started well for the Robins as they again continued to dominate one carpet but with the game running away on the other and the shots getting closer and closer. Kenninghall had actually taken the lead with the games being split but with such a dominate display on one carpet that they had swung the shot count in their favor.
With the Robins then chancing the shots as well, they actually ended up losing both of the games and crowning Kenninghall the Champions with a 9-4 victory over the Robins.
Congratulations to Kenninghall

Les + Arthur (Syleham) Vs Doris + Peter(Reepham)
All the semi finals came down to the last end but with victories for Tony and Rachel 5-4 over Kenninghall and Syleham 7-5 over Reepham.
The final was very close with both teams exchanging ends but with 2 ends to go Arthur managed to pick up a couple of shots to give him a 3 shot lead going in to the final end.
With Tony setting the Final end up for a pick up Arthur again manages to split up the woods leaving Tony with no where to go. He still tries but only manages to get a single shot giving the title to Les and Artur.

The Norfolk Triples held on the 3rd February at Wortwell.
The day started off with the very sad news that a member of the Norfolk squad had sadly passed away. It is with a heavy heart that we said fair well to Colin Knox. What an amazing player he was and a true gentleman as well. I am sure that I speak for everyone when I say that he will be greatly missed by all of the team and everyone that knew him. Are thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family.
The bowling started off with 20 teams divided in to 4 groups of 5 with the winner and Runner-up of each group going through to the next round and being put through to the quarter finals.
The quarter finals lined up with
Reepham Robins 1 vs Roydon
Reepham Robins 2 vs Southrepps 4
Wortwell vs Brockdish 1
Tacolneston 1 vs Southrepps 1
All games were closely battled but the eventual winners came through to the semi finals to see who could make it to the final.
Reepham Robins 1 then took on Southrepps 4 after they had managed to knock out the other Reepham Robins.
Wortwell had seen off Brockdish to set up a tie with Southrepps 1 who had seen off last years runner up.
Reepham Robins were too strong for Southrepps 4 and booked a place in the final.
Wortwell kept a healthy lead and always had the upper hand in the game as they too booked a place in the final.
Familiar faces seen in the final this year with Wortwell and Reepham Robins.
Worwell team of Val, Mike and Steve vs Reepham Robins team of Doris, Matt and Stephen
The final was very close with the Robins managing to get the better of the early ends and pulling in to a 4-0 lead.
Wortwell then started to get the better only managing to pick up singles but slowly but surely managed to get the game to 4-4 as we entered the last end.
Mike for Wortwell managed to get a great wood on the jack with Matt only managing to rest in behind so the advantage went to Wortwell. With both Matt and Stephen not managing to rock it Wortwell claimed the victory 5-4

The final between Mick and Matt.
Matt started off the better taking a slight edge and keeping Mick just at bay, It all came down to the final end with Matt leading 8-4. Unfortunately Mick could only manage 3 which was not enough to force the extra end so the title was Retained by Matt Frost ( Reepham Robins)

At the start of the day Reepham knew that it would be hard to overcome the much more experienced Kenninghall which was exactly how it started out with Kenninghall winning both of the Rinks 9-4 and 4-3, this meant that they had a good lead going in to the pairs.
However this did not go to plan with the Robins taking both of the pairs games 7-6 and 8-3. This meant that not only had they pulled back the points but also the shot difference going in to the last round of games.
With everything to play for in the last 2 games it could all come down to shots. After 2 ends the games were split with Reepham leading 4-0 and Kenninghall 4-0 on the other. This is were the games turned, the game Reepham had been leading then dropping a 4 to make it level and the other game still going Kenninghalls way. No matter what Reepham could do one of the games went to a dominating Kenninghall. Games ended being split but with Kenninghall winning 12-3 and Reepham 8-6 meant Kenninghall were crown Champions by 7 shots.
CONGRATULATIONS TO KENNINGHALL

35 teams divided in to 7 groups with every team in the group playing each other. Only the winners of the groups and the overall runner-up qualifying for the Quarter Finals.
The semi-Finals came down to Dilham(Rachel, Skipped by Tony )to play Reepham Robins (Stephen, skipped by Matt). The other semi final saw South Repps (Gillian and skipped by Colin) take on Dilham (Josie, skipped by Alan)
Reepham Robins took the semi final against Dilham after a strong performance to set up a final with South Repps who managed to have the edge in the final stages of the game against Dilham.
The Final was again a very good performance from the Robins who took control right from the get go. This left South Repps chasing and unfortunately could not get going with the strength of the Robins. Final score 11-0 to the Robins.

Sunday 18th September the Norfolk Fours Championship was held at Wortwell.
12 teams entered and after a hard days bowling Southrepps 1, who were group winners, came up against Reepham Robins runners up of the other group and Kenninghall, also group winners came up against Wortwell, the other group runners up.
Robins beat Southrepps 7 – 3 and Wortwell beat Kenninghall 7 – 6.
This meant that, ironically, the two finalists were both group runners up who then met on Mat 1, normally a mat which plays like grease lightning, but on Sunday the tables were turned on everyone and the mat was quite slow, which had caught a lot of people out all day.
The mat was moved to a different place and was still slow. Wortwell struggled to find the length and the vast tournament experience of Reepham Robins carried them through with an outstanding win of 12 – 2.

The 2015 Triples Championship was held on Sunday February 8th at Watlington Village Hall.
15 teams took part, they were divided into 3 leagues of 5 with the mat winner and the best runner up going through to the semi final. Both these games were fiercely fought with Tasburgh beating Occold, and Wortwell beating Kenninghall only after an extra end was played.
The absolutely thrilling final had all the spectators enthralled right up until the very last wood.
The jack had been driven right to the end of the carpet with Tasburgh holding two shots which would have levelled the score. Unfortunately the Tasburgh skip, who had last wood, whilst attempting to score another just tipped his opponents wood in, thus giving them the game.
Both teams produced excellent woods and it could have gone either way. What a stunning end to a wonderful day.
