Intensive course: Water Quality on Food Safety I
The course volume is 3 ECTS.
Intensive course (IC) has pre-course, on course and post-course activities.
At the pre-course phase, lecturers' introductory visits (teachers' mobility) are organized to introduce students to the topic of IC and to encourage them to explore food safety and water quality management systems in their own country or region.
The on-course tasks are presented at the beginning of the course in the presence of all participating students and teachers as well as working field partners. This ensures the input of all stakeholders. The performance of the students will be evaluated by a lecturer assigned to each students' team. Students will present their results at the symposium, which will be organized on the last day of the IC. The assessment will be based on active participation of each student, their knowledge, their interpersonal capabilities, and innovation. The course is evaluated by giving a pass/fail. The evaluation criteria will be made known to students before the course begins.
At the post-course phase, students and lecturers will be asked to answer the questionnaire and the skills evaluation report will be prepared.
After completing the IC, the student will:
- understand the link between water and food production and will be sure of the profound influence of water quality on food safety;
- know the similarities and differences of the national and international legislation that regulates food and water quality for human consumption;
- know how responsible water management and management of agricultural and food systems for water are ensured, given the overarching need to ensure the provision and access to safe drinking water for all;
- be familiarized with different research technologies which are used for water and food quality investigation.
