Prescription Clarification
At Nordic Pharmacy, our formulations contain Vitamin B12. This is commonly requested to help with nausea associated with GLP-1 treatment and for metabolic support.
According to the FDA, a compounded drug is not considered an essential copy if it contains a modification that provides a significant clinical difference for an individual patient. In order to comply with FDA guidelines, your provider must include a clinical reason for adding Vitamin B12 to your prescription.
Without this documentation, we are not permitted to dispense your medication.
Your provider must include an annotation on your prescription. Common clinical benefit annotations for the Vitamin B12 that providers list are nausea, metabolic support, fatigue, and nutritional deficiency (this is not an all inclusive list).
(ex: “compound with Vitamin B12 for metabolic support”).
This ensures that we comply with the FDA guidelines and can legally process your order.
If you received this link, we have already reached out to your provider. However, patients who contact their provider directly often see faster results. You can copy and send this message to your provider's office to prevent any further delays:
Hi, to comply with FDA guidelines Nordic Pharmacy requires that all GLP-1 compounded prescriptions have a documented clinical justification for compounding with Vitamin B12. Examples other providers have given for documentation are nausea, metabolic support, fatigue, and nutritional deficiency (ex: compound with B12 for metabolic support). PLEASE RE-SEND PRESCRIPTION WITH ADDED B12 BENEFIT.
Their formulations are not considered essential copies if the prescriber determines the compounded version provides a “significant difference” from the commercially available drug.
