Slide decks and notes for promoting nontraditional grading and inviting facutly to join and administrators to support the work
Faculty say:
“[the project] has given me language, scholarship, and bonds of community to explain my assessment philosophy; I will never go back to conventional grading assumptions”
If you have started down the nontraditional grading trail, you know that it is the road less traveled. Advocating for ungrading, specs grading, and gradeless feedback can challenge traditional norms and expectations in higher ed. When faculty and administrators first hear of the concept, they may be suspicious and concerned.
In this section, we have gathered together some of the materials that we have developed to share nontraditional grading practices on our campuses. Professional development is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Depending on the context, the audience, the time available, and the purpose, each discussion should be approached differently. Choose the perfect "pack size" for your path, and find slide decks, notes, and suggestions.
