There are many names of Allah, the Almighty God. According to the Holy Quran, “For Allah there are the most beautiful names…” (Surah Araaf, Ayat 180). These names are of two types:

The first type is called the personal name of God, whereas the second type consists of names based on various attributes of God. “Allah” is the personal name of the true Almighty God. Other names of God are based on the various attributes of the true Almighty God. 

There are numerous names and attributes of Allah SWT. However, Hadith literature mentions that there are 99 names of Allah SWT, as these 99 names are the basis of all the attributes of Allah SWT. Some other names, apart from these 99 names, are also mentioned in the Holy Quran and Ahadith like “Qahir”, “Shakir”, and “Zul-Fazl”, etc. However, the following is the list of 99 most famous quoted names of Allah SWT based on His attributes. 

According to the Holy Quran, “Say, call (Him by the name of) Allah or Ar-Rahman, in whichever way you call, His are the Best Names. ...” (Surah Isra, Ayat 110)
