Objective: The goal of this project was to create a thematic map that highlighted the costs associated with commuting on NJ's road system. According to the Reason Foundation, NJ roads rank poorly in traffic congestion, cost-effectiveness, and pavement conditions. Through these 3 metrics used to determine overall roadway performance, I was able to tell a story of the nation's worst roads. 

Award: 1st Place Winner - for best thematic map in NJDEP's 34th annual mapping contest. 

Software and tools used: Adobe Illustrator for cartographic design, ArcGIS Pro to extract road network
