Did you know that a male dies to suicide every 14 minutes in the United States, there are 3.9 male suicides to every 1 female suicide. Did you also know that 37% of men struggle with some sort of mental health? Out of 37% of those men, 40% of them never vocalize their mental health issues. Often times men feel too embarrassed to talk to their friends about their mental health issues. Often times, college students turn to substance abuse for a temporary fix to a bigger problem.
It is vital to seek out relationships with peers where you feel comfortable enough to be your true self, and voice your true self. Finding or creating a group of friends where you don't feel judged about your emotions and feelings is important. On top of having a group of friends you feel comfortable with, there are other things you can do to improve your mental health. Going outside, is important. Exposure to nature has been linked to helping and improving your mental health. Exercising, to get your blood moving helps a ton to. It helps clear your mind, also eating a healthy diet has been linked to improving your mood.
