Staff Recommendations:
FEMA research indicates that the single shotgun at 5920 Hurst was constructed circa 1885-95. The single family building is one of five sister houses on the 5900 block of Hurst Street. 5920 Hurst is one of three of the sister houses maintain their massing and original detailing including. The HDLC Design Guidelines for full control usually recommends camelbacks start at least two rooms back, however there are exceptions. HDLC Staff believes that altering one of the intact sister house would negatively impact the tout ensemble of the 5900 block and recommends a proposal that places the addition behind the rear bay. For the aforementioned reasons Staff recommends denial.
Recommendation: Denial.
