Serving as an Example: Small Sustainability Steps to Make a Big Difference

Produced by Makaylee Kuhn and Dr. Mark Shevy, Serving as an Example is a video highlighting the sustainability efforts of NMU’s volleyball program. Showcased at the Fresh Coast Film Festival in the fall of 2024, the film helps bring to light how small steps and cultural change has started a sustainability movement within NMU’s volleyball team and athletic department as a whole. 

Green Athletics Apparel Swap Bin

Established in March 2025, the apparel swap bin is open to any NMU athletes or athletics staff members to use. Located in the Fuel Station in the Superior Dome, the bin will help NMU Athletics reduce its overall clothing waste and help give unwanted items a new life. 

Ways to Go Green Flyer

The "Ways to Go Green" flyer helps inform NMU Athletics' staff & student-athletes of simple changes they can make in their daily lives to live more sustainably. This flyer was distributed to team locker rooms and throughout the PEIF.
