Educators will be able to...
- Integrate digital tools to support critical thinking and creativity in their science classroom
- Create a presentation about a specific digital tool that will be incorporated into a future unit of study
This workshop will focus on the use of technology to support teaching and learning. The session will be intended for an audience of 9-12 faculty and staff with beginner technology skills.
The agenda will focus on the use of Google tools in social studies for ½ day and science for a ½ day in supporting the content and curriculum of each content area.

- Have students build a simulator:
- 9th grade course - discovering kinematics (once students have a basic understanding of kinematics they can use this to test their initial ideas by writing an equation they THINK will model motion and then see the effects of their equation
- Advanced Course - projectile motion simulation starter (synthesis activity at the end of the unit to model projectile motion - students build from the starter trying to make as robust a model as possible - we spent 60 min on this, would have been better with more time) Student Examples:
- Models for word problem with variable parameters (love this approach for harder problems as it lets us solve for multiple input parameters)
- paper towel drop (advanced)
- disk rolling down ramp (advanced)
- box pulled by string (quick)
- box pressed against wall (quick)
- box pushed then slides to door (more robust than above)
- conservation of angular momentum (clay lump fired at disk in line with rotation)
