Academic advisement plays a key role in influencing the experience of our students. Through regular contact with students, advisors gain meaningful insights into students' academic, personal and social needs. Advisors use their insight to help students feel a part of the academic community, develop sound academic and career goals and to be successful learners.
Best practices indicate that the most successful student advising programs are those that have strong faculty/staff support and involvement. Therefore, good advising with an active and engaged advisor correlates to high retention, overall student satisfaction, academic skill development, student personal growth and active persistence.
