On my career path there have been several stops beginning in the same order with dancing, computer programming, teaching, activity coordinating, social media editing and content creating; but one stop which kept repeating is jewelry designing, manufacturing and trading.

Everything about diamond jewelry is my passion; the passion that ignites occasionally now. But nevertheless I'd like to share my journey of building this passion with you all.

My first step towards entering this industry goes back in 1996 when I learnt the basics of manual jewelry designing & rendering at the Indian Diamond Institute and following that was a computer aided jewelry designing course on CorelDraw software; both in Surat, India. In 1998 I got this wonderful opportunity to learn about Gemology from the HRD Institute, Antwerp Belgium. And when I say wonderful, I really mean it 'coz in those days for a girl to go far off from home to study was considered as a BIG thing.

For about 6 years years from then, I worked as a free lancer designer for a few individuals but then I realized I should enhance my knowledge about jewelry making. That's when I pursued a 12 weeks course on Basic Jewelry Making in 2004, where I learnt the whole process of making of jewelry right from the scratch. That was indeed knowledgeable and a turning point for me a I got the opportunity to work in the mainstream industry. I further enhanced my skills by learning CAD designing on IDEAS software which added to my understanding of manufacturing of diamond jewelry, both from Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery, Mumbai.

By then I had learnt a lot about diamond jewelry, however, I felt that you don't learn it completely unless you get your hands messy. I was lucky to have this opportunity to join a very renowned jewelry company in Mumbai - Prism Jewellery (Seepz-Andheri). I was guided and mentored at every stage of the process. I joined as an inhouse jewelry designer in 2004 and worked my way up to becoming a co-merchandiser with a senior colleague by 2007, and then sky was the limit!

My work profile has always been a dynamic one and in the jewelry factory it comprised of designing, supervising designing, cad & model making and quality control which lead to the overall product development. I had been fortunate to have experienced the best at my workplace like, creating, meeting new people, attending the world's famous jewelry shows held in Mumbai, Hong Kong and Las Vegas, visiting various jewelry markets in Delhi, Dubai and more.

In 2008 began a new chapter of my career of diamond jewelry. Myself, with the support of my husband established our own jewelry brand - Creation18 Jewellery. In a nutshell I would say it was our dream which was brought to existence.

We found a niche in the business by introducing a range of 75 zircon studded silver jewelry, the USP of it being a lookalike of real diamond jewelry. The designs were unique and the intention was to provide a class of people who usually wear real jewelry but needed the same for the purpose of travel and destination weddings, considering the safety reasons.

We introduced our brand into the market through the lifestyle exhibitions and exhibited our collection once every month through such set ups. And, I am proud to say that we did fairly well in this new venture. We were well known for creating and customizing diamond/zircon studded 18 kt gold/silver jewelry and enhancing it with the authenticity of the Bengali craftsmen.
