The Mechanical Subteam designs, tests, and manufactures the Rover's mechanical components. This includes the chassis, rocker-bogie, wheels, arm, and more. Parts and designs must be carefully designed and tested due to strict competition weight requirements and intricate tasks.
Members of the Mechanical Subteam will:
Learn how to Design Components in SolidWorks
Understand and Implement General Design Principles
Gain Hands-on Experience in Manufacturing and Machining
The Mechanical Team strives to manufacture the majority of the rover, with most parts made in-house. The team completes training at the CEET's machine shop on common manufacturing machines. Beyond that, the machine shop consults on manufacturability so parts are machined safely and correctly.
The team accepts all levels and is always seeking more help. Whether you are a first-semester freshman with no experience, or a second-year graduate student, you are welcome!
