The Computer Science subteam is currently focused on rebuilding and expanding the rover’s software and control systems. Our work includes programming microcontrollers, controlling motors and actuators, reading sensors and encoders, developing rover controls, troubleshooting hardware/software integration, and building the communication between the rover’s computers and its electrical systems.
This year, we are also working toward a new onboard computing setup that will allow us to expand into:
Camera Processing
Autonomous Movement
Machine Learning
Sensor Fusion
Other Higher-Level Rover Functions
New members start with smaller hands-on projects using Arduino, motors, joysticks, and sensors before moving into larger rover systems.
We primarily work with C++, Python, Arduino-based controllers, and Linux-based computing systems. No previous robotics experience is required, and students from any major or experience level are welcome to join and learn with us.
