On July 28, 2025, I uploaded HyperSound Rebooted onto the Polyphone website. The reason for this is that I wanted to improve on the original HyperSound (now HyperSound Classic) soundfont.
HyperSound Rebooted is completely different from its predecessor (which is why it's called a reboot), but bears the HyperSound name just because it is meant to capture the nostalgic feeling from hearing the sounds produced by an old sound chip from those good ol' decades--just like HyperSound Classic. So, basically, HyperSound Rebooted is HyperSound Classic with a fresh new coat of paint--or, rather, sound.
Compared to HyperSound Classic, HyperSound Rebooted is more compact. While Classic weighted around 1.5 MB, Rebooted takes up only 568 kB.
The initial release of HyperSound Rebooted is labeled as version 3.9, indicating that the soundfont is currently in the HyperSound 3.x era, with 270 melodic instruments and 10 drumsets, just with completely different samples. I was initially planning to add support for General MIDI Level 2 when HyperSound Rebooted was to come out, but I was too lazy and decided to postpone that for later. Thus, HyperSound Rebooted doesn't currently have any GM2 instruments, but will in the near future.
