Current Work and Ongoing Projects
I am at present working on translations of 1 and 2 Peter and Jude and a paper that explores likely NT biblical precedents of Pauline letters. By various literary criteria, texts considered later than Pauline letters (e.g., Revelation and the book of Acts) indicate instead their priority to them. Other on-going projects draw upon the research of my forthcoming monograph on the letters of Paul.
Along with Jason BeDuhn and Lillian Larsen, I co-lead and co-organize the Westar Institute Second-Phase Christianity Seminar. Employing Eusebius' Church History as a foil, the Seminar aims to re-evaluate various aspect of Christianity of the the third to fifth centuries. The various conference topics to-date include,
Fall 2020: Eusebius, Church History Spring 2021: Art and Archaeology
Fall 2021: Jewish-Christian Difference Spring 2022: Christologies
Fall 2022: Household as Stage Spring 2023: Rhetoric and Philosophy
Fall 2023: Borders and Boundaries Spring 2024: Health and Healing
