Along with Jason BeDuhn and Lillian Larsen, I co-led and co-organized the Westar Institute Second-Phase Christianity Seminar. Employing Eusebius' Church History as a foil, the Seminar re-evaluated various aspect of Christianity of the the third to fifth centuries. The various conference topics were:
Fall 2020: Eusebius, Church History Spring 2021: Art and Archaeology
Fall 2021: Anti-Judaic Rhetoric Spring 2022: Christologies
Fall 2022: Staging Households Spring 2023: Rhetoric and Philosophy
Fall 2023: Borders and Boundaries Spring 2024: Health and Healing
Fall 2024: Ancient Pedagogy Spring 2025: Media and Book Culture
We aim to publish an edited volume of the Seminar papers.
At present, I am investigating the ways in which the epistolary genre has helped to shape early Christianity.
