Circumcision as a Malleable Symbol

My first monograph, Circumcision as a Malleable Symbol (Mohr Siebeck, 2010), indicates the varieties of interpretations of the rite of circumcision across numerous ancient texts, including the books of the Maccabees, Jubilees, Josephus, Philo, and Pauline letters, and challenges a commonly held assumption of a unitary signification of this Jewish rite.
