People all over the world are fond of sports and games.

Sport makes people healthy, keeps them fit, more organized and better disciplined.

It unites people of different classes and nationalities. Many people do sports on their personal initiative. They go in for skiing, skating, table tennis, swimming, volley-ball, football, body-building, etc. All necessary facilities are provided for them: stadiums, sport grounds, swimming pools, skating rinks, skiing stations, football fields. Sport is paid much attention to in our educational establishments. Gymnastics is a part of children's daily activities in the kindergartens. Physical culture is ч compulsory subject at schools and colleges. Professional sport is also paid much attention to in our country. In city, where I live, there are different sporting societies, clubs and complexes.

Practically all kinds of sports are popular in our country, but football, gymnastics and tennis enjoy the greatest popularity. As for me, I go in for table tennis (ping-pong). It needs mobility, liveliness and much energy. It keeps a person in a good form. I have been playing tennis for five years, but the more I play, the more I like it. I get a real joy taking part in competitions or simply playing with my friends. Sometimes, I go to tennis courts.

Certainly, there's a great distance between my manner of playing and such favourites as Jim Courier, Stephan Edberg, Pete Sampras, Boris Becker, Per Korda, but I do my training with great pleasure and hope to play as well as our best players do.

Sport in my life

Sport is very important in our life. The general belief is that a person who goes in for sports can’t be weak and ill. Physically inactive people get old earlier that those, who find time for sport activity. And of course good health is better than good medicine.

People all over the world are fond of sports and games. In our country sport is being widely popularized as well. The most popular kinds of sport are football, volleyball, basketball, tennis, figure-skating, aerobics, ping-pong and swimming. A lot of people are fond of jogging. In schools and colleges sport is a compulsory subject. Many young people attend sport sections. Some of them dream to become professional sportsmen.

As for me, I can’t imagine my life without sport. In summer I go jogging every morning and when I have free time I attend swimming pool. In winter I like to skate with my friends. It’s fun. Also I’m fond of aerobics. First of all aerobics helps to keep myself fit. It also attracts me because it resembles dancing.

In conclusion I’d like to say that I’m absolutely sure that doing sports is the best way to keep fit. Sport makes our bodies strong, it prevents us from getting too fat, and makes us more self-organized and better disciplined.

Sports in Great Britain

The British are known to be great sports-lovers, so when they are neither playing, nor watching games, they like to talk about them. Many of the games we play now have come from Britain.

One of the most British games is cricket. It is often played in schools, colleges, universities and by club teams all over the country. Summer isn't summer without cricket. To many Englishmen cricket is both a game and a standard of behaviour. When they consider anything unfair, they sometimes say: "That isn't cricket."

But as almost everywhere else in the world, the game which attracts the greatest attention is Association football, or soccer. Every Saturday from late August till the beginning of May, large crowds of people support their favourite sides in football grounds. True fans will travel from one end of the country to the other to see their team play. There are plenty of professional and amateur soccer clubs all over Britain. International football matches and the Cup Finals take place at Wembley.

Rugby football is also very popular, but it is played mainly by amateurs.

Next to football, the chief spectator sport in British life is horse-racing. A lot of people are interested in the races and risk money on the horse which they think will win. The Derby is perhaps the most famous single sporting event in the whole world.

Britain is also famous for motor-car racing, dog-racing, boat-racing, and even races for donkeys. The famous boat-race between the teams of Oxford and Cambridge attracts large crowds of people.

A great number of people play and watch tennis. Tennis tournaments at Wimbledon are known all over the world. The innumerable tennis courts of Britain are occupied by people between the ages of 16 and 60 who show every degree of skill — from practically helpless to the extremely able.

The British also like to play golf, baseball, hockey, grass-hockey. Various forms of athletics, such as running, jumping, swimming, boxing are also popular. You can sometimes hear that there are no winter sports in England. Of course the English weather is not always cold enough to ski, skate, or toboggan, but winter is a good season for hunting and fishing. Indeed, sport in one form or another is an essential part of daily life in Britain.

I think, nowadays it is very important to know foreign languages. Some people learn languages, because they need them for their work, others travel abroad, for the third it`s just a hobby. People want to know languages, to write to their pen-friends or to communicate with people from different countries, to meet more people and make new friends. Also, they want to read books of famous writers in original, to read newspapers and magazines. It helps them to know more about different events, people`s life, customs and traditions.

Learning foreign languages broadens our minds, people become educated. In my opinion, languages are especially important for those who work in different fields of science and technology, in politics. A foreign language helps to know the native language better. People, who know many languages are called polyglots. We know the names of some of them: German professor Shlimman, famous writer Shakespeare, philosopher Socrates and many others.

Nowadays, English has become an international language. Over 300 million people speak it as a mother tongue. As for me, I learn English from 7 years age. This language helps me very much, to speak free with people from all over the world, make new friends and participate in international contests.

I like one proverb of Johann Goethe:" He who does not know foreign languages does not know anything about his own." I speak Ukranian, Russian, English, a little Italian and Spanish. And I`m very proud of it, because languages-it`s my second life. Also, I would like to learn Germany, French and Serbian, but this year I dedicate myself to learning Italian. You know, dream from my childhood - to be an an interpreter and I`m sure, I get it.

Acid rains

One of the forms of air pollution is acid rains. Acid rains result from the release into the atmosphere of sulfur oxide and nitrogen oxide. It is caused by factories that burn coal or oil or gas. These factories send smoke high into the air. The wind often carries the smoke far from the factories. Some of the harmful substances in the smoke may come down with the rain hundreds of miles away.

The rain in many places isn’t natural and clean any more. It’s full of acid chemicals. When it falls in lakes, it changes them too. Acid water is like vinegar or lemon juice. It hurts when it gets into your eyes. It also kills the plants and animals that usually live in lake water. That is why fish dies in lakes.

Scientists find other effects of acid rain. Acid rains kill vast stretches of forests in Canada, the USA, central and northern Europe. In some large areas trees are dying. Not just one tree here and there, but whole forests. Scientists think that the rain is the reason. It makes the earth more acidic in these areas, and some kinds of trees cannot live in the soil that is very acidic.

Now scientists begin to study the effects of acid rain on larger animals. For example, they believe that some deer in Poland are less healthy because of acid rain. And what about people? No one knows the answer yet. But it is an important question for us all.

Want to Become a Cook

All professions are interesting to me and every profession has advantages and disadvantages. But there is one profession that I love so much even if there are some minuses. In future I would like to become a cook. I like to cook a lot. I have no cooks in my family but my mom and my granny know many recipes and they cook very well. When we have guests they always cook something delicious and I learn all these recipes. Few months ago I started to cook by myself. I like to cook salads and soups, cookies and cakes. Sometime I need help but basically I do everything alone. My friends like to come and they always say that I am a good cook. Cooking makes me happier. When I cook I feel I am doing something useful and interesting. I like to mix ingredients and to try new recipes. I hope in future to become a good and famous cook. My favorite dish to cook is a cake. I cook them often for my dad. He likes a lot cakes with fruit and berries. So I could work in a restaurant and to cook new dishes. People would come only because they knew that food here is great. I think it’s a dream of any cook, In general it’s not difficult to study. You just have to be attentive and to follow your heart. My granny says that you have to cook with your heart if you want to have a delicious dish. So I am ready to do my best. Also a good cook has to know all the products and has to understand how to mix them. It’s good if you like to watch tv programmes about cooking. They are also experience and some advice. In general any good profession requires time, patience and love. If you like to cook all your food will be tasty and dishes will be nice. You will always have full house of friends and your kitchen will be your favorite room. But I can also understand people who don’t want or don’t like cooking. Tastes differ. For me every product is something special, something that has different form, color, taste. I think I was born to be a cook and of course thanks to my mom and my granny I have learnt many tricks and secrets.

Продукты: 1 фазан, сливочное масло - 150 г, каштаны - 400 г, картофель - 500 г, зеленый горошек - 250 г, сахар - 10 г, 2 яйца, мука - 1 чайная ложка, мясной бульон - 1 стакан, красное вино - 1/2 стакана, каштаны - 25 штук, порошок мускатного ореха - 1 г, соль и перец по вкусу.

Рецепт приготовления: Тушку фазана обработать и протереть изнутри кухонной салфеткой, смоченной в разведенном водой уксусе. Положить фазана в смазанный жиром сотейник и жарить в духовке, полив тушку вином и по необходимости подливая бульон или воду. Когда фазан равномерно подрумянился, и мясо стало мягким, вынуть тушку, а в сотейник влить смешанный с мукой (1/2 чайной ложки) и сахаром (5 г) бульон, прокипятить соус 10 минут и процедить. Отварить картофель, протереть горячим через сито, смешать с яйцами, солью, порошком мускатного ореха и сливочным маслом (20 г). Пюре разделать на маленькие баранки и испечь в духовке. Очищенные каштаны сварить на пару в течение 10 минут. Когда вода выкипит, полить каштаны соусом (2 столовые ложки). Зеленый горошек отварить, опустив в соленый кипяток, припустить с маслом, добавив сахар и муку. Готовую тушку фазана разрезать так, чтобы на каждую порцию был и кусочек белого мяса, уложить на блюдо, полив немного соусом, вместе с картофельными баранками, зеленым горошком и каштанами в соусе. Отдельно, в соуснике, подать соус.

4. Быстро обжарить в небольшом количестве топленого масла на среднем огне до золотистой корочки с каждой стороны. Подавать горячими.

Приготовление: Крупно нарежь все овощи, сложи в миску и перемешай с маслом и специями. Заверни их в конверт из фольги, чтобы в нем не было щелей. И запекай в духовке при 180 градусах около 25-30 минут. Если хочешь немного подрумянить их сверху, отверни верхний слой фольги за 10 минут до конца.

Recipe of fruit salad
