Assigned to create course content for 18 Masteral degree programs at an affiliate US university, the primary challenge was that I had little prior knowledge of the subjects, which were heavily focused on artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Each course needed to be developed for accreditation within a nine-month period, ensuring high-quality content, clear learning outcomes, and robust assessment standards.
As the lead content creator and technical writer, I was responsible for the end-to-end development of all 18 courses.
I worked closely with an intern, scheduling weekly sprints to track progress, monitor performance, and ensure content alignment with accreditation standards.
Sourced and analyzed primary resources, developed structured course materials, created assignments and grading rubrics, and designed both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences to support diverse learner needs.
Applied a structured framework similar to the PACE method to manage each course:
Priorities – Selected and approved key textbooks or online resources for each course.
Announcements – Coordinated with the client on resource approval, feedback, and course alignment with accreditation standards.
Changes – Summarized chapters, identified key topics and terminologies, and developed insightful questions for each chapter. Weekly sprints with the intern ensured tasks stayed on schedule and content was aligned across modules.
External – Integrated additional readings and resources to ensure the courses reflected current trends and best practices in AI and machine learning.
Process Overview
Week 1: Conducted a crash course on the approved textbook, summarized chapters, extracted main topics, identified terminologies, and created 3-5 questions per chapter.
Week 2: Designed modules (maximum of eight per course), defined learning outcomes, created a syllabus and grading rubric, developed assignments aligned with assessments, and designed live activities and capstones for the synchronous sessions.
All modules were asynchronous, with two-day, 12-hour synchronous sessions per module to facilitate interactive learning.
Weekly sprints with the intern allowed continuous progress tracking, ensured timely completion of deliverables, and maintained consistent content quality across all courses.
Completed 18 Masteral-level courses over nine months and successfully uploaded them to the university portal.
Developed structured, high-quality modules, including grading rubrics and capstone projects, aligned with accreditation standards.
Streamlined workflow and maintained high-quality content through weekly sprint collaboration with the intern.
Created a scalable template for future course development in technical subjects.

This project reinforced that structured learning design is achievable even in unfamiliar technical domains.
