For this project , i wanted to explore life through the narration of a photoshoot where i hope to emphasise the entering of ethereal dimension of fairytales where life gets dreamy and is filled with youthfulness . It makes one reminisce on their childhood stories and fairytales and let them walk through the memory lanes of a mystical and whimsical narrative.
For this project , i tackled a heavy topic of feminine masculinity against societal norms where you are taken on a journey of a girl who actually wants to transition into more of a tomboy , which is however looked down upon in society and she wishes to break out of her own skin and change that stereotype by dressing against it. At the end she is able to show how it is okay to express yourself individually and be the person you want to be without having to listen to what society thinks is a norm.
For Fluid Duality, a layout component was incooperated into the project and we were taught the impact that certain layouts can have in a fashion editorial. Each magazine layout has a specific intention as well as a narration to convey the meaning of the shoot , which tentatively draws in readers and audiences to be more involved in the story telling , as well as fully grasp the intention of the shoot that raw photos cannot fully capture
With intentional font and typography as well as photo layout, it fully emits the playful mood of the shoot in a 6 page spread of a fashion magazine. The cover of the magazine plays the most important role of drawing the viewers into the story and setting the right mood for the overall shoot, while the scattered fonts and texts all over the magazine pages help to set the atmosphere of this story where a new Gen Z Tomboy wants to break free out of the societal norms.
