Assignment 5: Self Portrait

A self portrait is a thought out way of expressing oneself through an image. It gives the viewer a better sense of who the subject is, and it is meant to create a lasting impression.

Note: a self portrait is not a selfie.

How I interpreted the assignment:

I used this assignment to show off how I feel about myself. I don't really ever get to dress up, at least not in the way that I'd like to. I saw this as an opportunity to show myself how I want to be seen, and to present myself as refined (as far as 'refined' can go wearing dress trousers and a white tee).

Additionally, I named most of these photographs after song titles from Cavetown. Cavetown is my favourite music artist, and he has been since 2017... so for about 5 years (and counting). His music has played a huge part in helping me find myself, as well as give me a reason to keep going. Without his music, I have no doubt I would be a different person, so having a piece of his work represented in mine, just gives an extra bit of meaning to these portraits.
