Meet Nick

Early Life

I grew up on the banks of the Le Sueur river in the heart of Southern Minnesota and graduated from Mankato West High School. A bachelor's degree in Natural Resources with a Masters in Economics ultimately pointed me towards teaching Science as a way to return and connect with the community I was raised in.

Many experiences gave direction to my attitudes surrounding government. Working as a well driller, carpenter and with some farm experience thrown in, I know that entrepreneurship, innovation, and effort continue to define success in our community, state, and country. True success is not the result of luck, rather it is fostered through attention to detail, effort, and the application of knowledge.

Values

It's hard to subscribe to an entire party's platform, therefore, I identify as an independent. Due to ballot restrictions in Minnesota, I'm running a 'write-in' campaign independent from any major political parties. I subscribe to the philosophy that an elected public official must hold clear principles yet they also need to work tirelessly to maintain flexibility and compromise to best serve their community without sacrificing core convictions.

Family

I raise beef cattle part-time near Lake Crystal in Lincoln Township, while teaching science full-time. My father, Carl, is a contractor and my mother, Ann, is a teacher. They reside near Garden City. My two sisters, Emily and Beth, live outside 23B, Emily in Rosemount, MN and Beth near Lincoln, NE.
